This is the perfect example of a vintage image and a worthy winner. The tight crop from using the Olympus 40-150mm lens perfectly hides any hint of the modern world. The pilot, eyes lowered scarf blowing in the breeze, looks the part and leaves me wondering what he’s think about.
The use of warm, faded tones really helps with the vintage feeling. It’s all too easy to overdo the effect but here it’s been handled skillfully lifting this image above the rest.
The vintage effect is one of the most favourite photo effects we know. Sepia colors, used look, soft pastel tones—vintage photos can be beautiful and you don’t necessarily need to add a lot of filters to take them. Play a little with your Olympus camera, find the right scenery, and share your vintage photo in this Picture of the Month Contest!
