What the judges said ...

I’ve chosen this picture because it captures the perfect morning mood. I’m a morning person as well and moments like these always fascinate me. It’s all about the silence, the fog and the rising sun which is still weak. For me the picture is perfectly arranged and very balanced, due on the one hand to the bridge appearing on the upper left corner and then disappearing in the fog. On the other hand there’s the tree that seems to frame the picture from the upper right corner and of course the cyclist as the main motif, cycling into the picture, starting the day. Perhaps she could have been a bit further left, but she fits perfectly to the rest of the composition. Below the whole picture is topped off with the street and the riverside. Regarding the contrast, the main motif is the strongest and it catches the attention of the viewer immediately. The bridge at that point has less contrast, fitting perfectly to the picture. All in all, the photo is a very balanced image of an amazing morning mood.
