Das Foto ist bei einer Schiffsfahrt im arktischen Norden entstanden. Die sich spiegelnde Eislandschaft am Horizont vermittelte den Eindruck, die Skyline von New York zu sehen, ein Irrtum, denn im Umkreis von Hunderten von Kilometern gab es keine Menschenseele.
