    But of course I can shoot with large format and still use a soft focus if I want to avoid the "merciless sharpness" in certain shots (portrait, picturesque landscape)! It always depends on the intended effect. By the way, the comparison with large format is misleading, because here it is not only about sharpness and richness of detail, but also about colour and contrast rendition, which also diminish in the enlargement of smaller photo formats Thinking Rob, I just wanted to explain to you that when you shoot with sharp optics, you don't necessarily have to make the finished image look sharp! This is perhaps comparable to the fact that when I shoot in RAW, I don't necessarily have to develop in colour, but can also opt for black and white.
