Das Schloss gehört zur Ortsgemeinde Sankt Johann in Rheinland-Pfalz und liegt nordwestlich von Mayen auf einem Felssporn an der Mündung des Nitzbachs in die Nette. Das Schloss diente häufig als Filmkulisse. Eine Außenaufnahme des Schlosses ist bei "Indiana Jones und der letzte Kreuzzug" zu sehen.
