I took this photo in the famous Fanal Forest in Madeira. Ancient laurel trees shrouded in mist transform the forest into a fantasy land straight out of a Tolkien novel. The gnarled branches of some of the trees make them resemble human silhouettes frozen in a gesture of welcome... or perhaps threat?
