Der Lech ist auf seinem Lauf durch Bayern an etlichen Stellen gestaut. Eine dieser Staustufen, die Nr. 23, bietet immer wieder spektakuläre Motive bei Sonnenuntergang. Genau diese Stufe 23 ist auch unter dem Begriff "Mandichosee" bekannt.
