Das Ilsetal liegt am nördlichen Harzrand, zwischen Goslar und Wernigerode, hier hat sich eine einmalige Naturlandschaft erhalten. Die Ilsefälle muss man einfach gesehen haben, an ihnen entlang führt übrigens ein 15 km langer Aufstieg zum Brocken, der nicht so überlaufen ist.
