Rock in Rocksjön can be traced to the village of Rockö, which once lay between Rocksjön and Vättern. As early as the end of the 15th century, the village was destroyed, but the name still lives on. The lake was called Röcksjö in 1615 and on other older maps the names Råkasjön, Råksjön and Råckesjön
