Especie de ambientes abiertos, preferentemente prados secos o mesófilos del piso subalpino, sobre sustrato calcáreo. Vive entre 1000 y 1800 m de altitud, ocasionalmente con observaciones por encima de este rango. En Cataluña es una mariposa más bien escasa.
