  • Žilina Well? - perhaps you mean Zsolnay fountain.....
  • This is not a fountain. In memory of Vilmos Zsolnay, his son, Miklós Zsolnay, offered to donate ornamental research to the city in 1908. Andor Pilch was commissioned to build the well in 1909, which was completed in 1912 at the Zsolnay Factory. The well was taken over by the city the following year, but the location could not be decided due to various town planning reasons or the First World War. The work was stored in a warehouse for 18 years and was finally erected in 1930 in the square in front of the Church of the Merciful Order. The ox-headed gargoyles of the four-meter-high eosin well were modeled on one of the drinking vessels of the so-called Nagyszentmiklós treasures. The ornamental well was erected in the place where the so-called Stood his "tub trickle." The following inscription can be read on the edge of the coffee of the well: "Let the memorial well of Vilmos Zsolnay be an eternal witness to the happiness of the inhabitants of the prosperity of the city of Pécs".
