The shoreline of Lindisfarne harbour on Holy Island has been lines with upturned fishing boats used as store and workrooms by fishermen. Lindisfarne Castle was built in the sixteenth century and extensively re-modelled in 1901 by architect Sir Edwin Lutyens.
