The pink lagoon, also known as the Salt Lagoon of Torrevieja, is a unique phenomenon in Spain. The pink pigment-producing microorganisms (halobacterias and microalgae) living in salty water give the color of the lagoon, which has a salt concentration similar to that of the Dead Sea.
