Die Weibchen legen bis zu 2000 Eier in Gruppen von etwa 200 Stück an der Ufervegetation verschiedener Gewässertypen ab. Die daraus schlüpfenden Larven lassen sich ins Wasser fallen. Sie leben anfangs im Wasser, später im Schlamm vergraben.
