Die Käfer werden 8 bis 12 Millimeter lang. Ihr Körper ist glänzend schwarz gefärbt und hat eine struppige, weiße Behaarung und viele weiße Flecken auf Deckflügeln, Halsschild und der Unterseite. Die Tiere jetzt auch in Deutschland. Sie ernähren sich von Pollen, die Larve von Pflanzenwurzeln.
