Der größte Unterschied zwischen den beiden Arten: Die Europäische Hornisse gilt mittlerweile als bedrohte Art, während die eingewanderte Asiatische Hornisse sich innerhalb Europas sehr gut vermehrt. Für den Menschen ist die Asiatische Hornisse aber genauso ungefährlich wie ihre Verwandten.
