At Oban, you can step off the direct train from Glasgow and just head over to the ferry terminal, right next to the train station. Different routes take you to the Isle of Kerrera, or Lismore, Coll, Tiree, Barra, Colonsay, the Isle of Mull, the Hebrides, and many other places around the west coast.
