MBFWB – twice a year we also travel to the most undervalued fashion capital of Europe: Berlin and watch out for the season’s hottest tops and flops. It’s always a pleasure to pay a visit to our home country Germany – summer or winter you will be warmly welcomed and surprised (or not!) with a "shower": rain. Well, luckily we are not here for the weather, right?! Still, rain was quite a big part of this week...
4th, July – midnight Airport Berlin Schönefeld: we finally arrived with a slight delay of 4 hours (thanks to too much air traffic over Europe!). So, our Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Berlin started 2 days late. Better late than never, right?
Wednesday, 9 am we kicked off MBFWB at one of Berlin’s coolest breakfast hotspots “Rose Garden“ with poached eggs, beetroot, avocado, good coffee and the ASOS SS18 menswear collection. A slow start with great people and fun 70s and 90s inspired clothes - just the way we like it... Followed by the MALAIKARAISS show, an avocado toast lunch meeting at “Commonground“ and the launch event for the first issue of the German edition from the Nylon magazine. Our schedule for the upcoming days was pretty similar: meetings, shows, meetings, store openings and presentations... The usual Fashion Week madness!
Berlin is always a whole different story compared to other international Fashion Weeks like Paris, Milan, New York or London... Don’t get us wrong – absolutely not in a bad way, it’s just very different from the other Fashion Weeks. The locations, the shows, the looks, the whole atmosphere, everything is way more laid-back and minimalist. (note: not speaking about the Streetstyle here!) Berlin is truly very unique!
Our personal favourite collection for this season’s Berlin Fashion Week is definitely Willian Fan – we are a Fan, nay a very big Fan! A super loud, and fun 90s inspired collection. Loud enough to represent Berlin Fashion Week in the most perfect way. We also really love the brilliant minimalist Hien Le, who exactly knows how to play big with beautiful summery fabrics!
A big part of this Fashion Week was also our amazing accommodation. Luckily, we had a super lovely host for this week – the Tannhaus Apartments. Thanks to the amazing Tannhaus team we could enjoy a cozy breakfast in bed before starting a busy day. Italian brioche and hot Cappuccinos saved our mornings...
Our personal favourite trend from Berlin for SS18? Stripes and big fancy sleeves are coming in hot!
