The Pamir Highway is the second highest road in the world, right after Karakoram highway of Pakistan. Built by the Russians between 1931 and 1934, it starts from Mazari Sharif, Afghanistan (or Khorog, Tajikistan, depending on the sources) and ends in Osh, Kirghizstan.
