..... more and more reminders of rock / pop album titles: Gary Wright, Headin' Home?
  • sorry, Eidjan, but that was not on my mind.. I look at my picture, and than arrises the title from within. In 1 of my photo's I did refer to an album of Brian Eno, 'another green world'.. which is a poem sentence by itself.. can stand on itself, because it has such a deep charge and accessibility, it evokes the entrance to the realm of unconsciousness completely for me .. as with a shaman journey, descent into the soul.. So, in common, I appeal to the depths within each one, lying just beneath the surface of the daily consciousness: there is the treasure to be found, the key towards freedom. But nice that you make a broader connection between pict, title, music, as long as it's free and don't get caught by it.. greetings..

    >>>So, in common, I appeal to the depths within each one, lying just beneath the surface of the daily consciousness<<<If this is your concern, dear Rob, then one could now argue whether the title of a picture can also mislead the viewer through the associations that are awakened in each individual as soon as one reads the title. If you had called the picture "after the flood", for example, other associations would be awakened. Personally, therefore, I feel, that having a name for a picture influences the way I look at it. But this is probably more a discussion of principles that does not belong here ....
  • yes, sometimes a title can put one on the wrong foot, or come between them. In that sense, I also find your choice of title, with place, date, etc., the exact data understandable. But also realize that a place or even a date can evoke associations for a particular viewer. For example Hamburg, even the language can evoke positive or negative associations. Sometimes I think about just calling everything "without title" followed by a number. (W.T.3, etc). But even then, WT can mean something, or a number can evoke thoughts.. that's how we function a humans. I hate it when a title puts one in a story, so I am going to change the title now..
