I have a day time job as a system architect and data security engineer and usually work in large long time projects. Photography and creating pictures with Photoshop is not only a hobby but also gives me instant results, something i am often missing in my job.
I always loved to take pictures and got my first camera with 6 years but although i later upgraded to a Minox 35 GT and then a Minolta SLR system i always was just a casual shooter. But things changed when i started scuba diving and wanted to share my impressions of the underwater world with my non diving family and friends.
Tired of scanning slides, in 2001 i went digital with an Olympus C3030 which was mainly used underwater and later replaced by a C7070, both in Olympus underwater housings. At that time i also learned how to post process my uw images using Photoshop and even published several articles on digital diver.
After a diving accident i changed my focus to land based wildlife photography, fell in love with the Masai Mara and bought my first DSLR, a Nikon D200. But Nikon didn't deliver my ordered tele-zoom lenses in time for a safari and so i went back to Olympus, bought an E-500 and fell in love with the quality glass of the Olympus FT system, small enough to carry on walking safaris or to shoot from the bottom of a safari car. The E-500 was followed by an E-510, E-3 and E-420, E-5 and E-620.
In 2008 i booked a studio photography workshop and learned that taking pictures of people is actually a lot of fun with the right teacher. I also added compositing techniques to my Photoshop portfolio.
While Olympus was still stuck with the same old 10 Mpx Panasonic sensor i used a Nikon D700 plus holy trinity as my primary system to shoot fast action and lowlight.
My first mFT camera was a E-PL1 and since then i used a Pen E-P3, the OM-D E-M5, OM-D E-M1 I, Pen E-PL7, Pen-F, E-M1 II, a rented E-M1X and now the E-M1 III. Since buying the E-M5 i have been using Olympus equipment exclusively again and added lots off mFT glass to my lens portfolio..
Today i still take pictures of everything that turns up in front of my camera but my focus is mainly on wildlife, landscape and on creative images based on studio or location photography and lots of Photoshop. On the other hand i always try to take at least one images of every scene that is perfectly exposed and composed, has a bit of extra zing due to an art filter and can be used out of cam.
I also still use Olympus cameras, right now a OM-D E-M1 III and a PEN F
