I have been a hobby photographer since early childhood. At first together with my grandfather. In 1976 I bought an Olympus om-2. I have taken thousands of photos with this camera. I had my own darkroom developing black and white and later color photos. Began taking portrait photos of kids for family and friends.
Then one day I stopped. I really do not know why. 20 years passed and I bought a point and shoot Canon digital camera. I haven't used it much. Then I bought a Canon DSLR Rebel. That did not get me started either.
Last year my daughter gave birth to a lovely daughter. Now I am the grandfather and years back I promissed my daughters and myself that I would buy a new good camera when they got kids.
So here I am with my new om-d e-m5 mark 2. And the camera is already good for several thousands of photos. I thought I should have a fullframe Nikon DSLR or a Sony A7. Tried both and bought the Olympus. It was like coming home.
It has taken me a long time to get up to speed. I took a lot of photos and imported them into Lightroom, and really didn't like the outcome. I sold the 40-150mm lens. It simply must be the gear :-).
I bought the 12-40 pro and 75mm prime and the 45mm prime. Ofcourse it was not the lens. But blaming the gear is easier. The faster lenses gave me more to work with. Slowly the photos began to look like the intention. Tons of tutorials on Lynda.com helped me understand Lightroom and my camera. Today It works again.
I am now the happy owner of an E-M1 Mark II. What a camera.
