Though as a child in East Germany I attended a regular school workshop on photography I didn’t practice photography when a youth or as an adult. In that school workshop we developed the black and white images on paper ourselves in a dark room. It was fantastic to hold the paper, to pull it with a clothes peg through the chemical liquid – I can still remember the smell of the liquid – and to see the image gradually appearing.
However, running different websites and creating posters and flyers for charities, friends or my own courses I became gradually aware how important good images are. Being too dependent on others‘ work I decided 2 years ago to take images myself. But I quickly realised there is more than just shooting. It’s an art and a handcraft.
Since the late summer of 2020 I try to educate myself and attend workshops to learn as a hobbyist this craft and art in order to improve my skills.
