Paul Gwynn - life long wildlife photographer.
I was fortunate enough to grow up in some amazing places as a child - Tanzania, Malawi, Vanuatu and the countryside of Devon in the UK so immersed in nature that surrounded me. Since then travelled extensively around the world visiting more than 70 countries. I lived in Singapore for 6 years which gave me access to some of the top diving locations across Asia Pacific including dives Malaysia, Australia, Indonesia and Maldives.
Over the last 30 years I have enjoyed self drive expeditions to some of the remoter parts of including Namibia, Botswana, South Africa, Zambia, Tanzania, Kenya and more recently a few trips to the conservancies in Kenya that offer superb undisturbed access to wildlife surrounding the Masai Mara.
I now live and work in SW Germany, where I’m able to enjoy the migratory birds on the Rhine valley and the raptors that occupy the forests and fields on the edges of the Rhine valley and forested uplands.
My passion is wildlife and underwater photography, life long Pentax user but in 2015 discovered the joy of Olympus first for underwater with a OMD-5 Mark II and underwater housing with macro and 8mm wide-angle. Then learned that the Olympus OMD was in fact a mini Pentax - in body stabilisation, waterproof and dust proof bodies and lenses but in a much smaller form factor. Used the OMD 5 as a travel camera for photos and video when not diving. Then acquired a OMD-1 Mark II and 300mm, 40-150mm, x1.4 & x2.0 extenders for birds and wildlife.
Waiting to see what OM systems are going to deliver as their next camera before deciding what to invest in next - maybe 100-4000mm meanwhile?
